Adding a new tool to your existing Kurt database
Adding Instructions to a Gaging Operation

Probes: Calibration (Balance Transuducers)

  • Click FILE, SELECT PART.
  • Change the group box to "RAW INPUT".
  • Load a tool nominal master if available.
  • Click HARDWARE, CALIBRATE GAGES .
  • Adjust all transducers to approximately mid stroke.
  • Close the window when finished.
Probes: Changing Polarity (+/-)
After changing the polarity of a probe, you MUST remaster the tool.
  • Click FILE, SELECT PART.
  • Change the PART box to the tool name.
  • Click EDIT, PART.
  • Click on the CHARTS TAB.
  • Double click the chart you would like to change. Be sure to change the probes raw input chart.
  • Click SETUP under the chart menu.
  • Check or uncheck the POLARITY box to togle the direction the probe reads.
  • Click OK.
  • Click SAVE.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
Probes: Replacement Top
  • Click FILE, SELECT PART.
  • Change the PART box to the tool name.
  • Click EDIT, PART.
  • Click on the CHARTS TAB.
  • Double click the chart you would like to change. Be sure to change the raw input chart of the new probe.
  • Click SETUP under the chart menu.
  • Click IDENTIFY.
  • Click RESET PROBE to clear the identity of the old probe.
  • Press the tip of the new probe.
  • Check or uncheck the POLARITY box to togle the direction the probe reads if desired.
  • Click OK.
  • Click SAVE.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
  • The gage must be re-calibrated and re-mastered accordingly.
Readings: Change the Precision of a Value

  • Click FILE, SELECT PART.
  • Change the GROUP box to the tool name.
  • Click EDIT, PART.
  • Click on the CHARTS TAB.
  • Double click the chart you would like to change. Be sure to change the equation chart, not the probe charts.
  • Make your changes to the precision of the reading. Kurt will ONLY allow this if you have no data collected.
  • Click SAVE.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
Readings: Change Tolerances and Offset Values

  • Click FILE, SELECT PART.
  • Change the GROUP box to the tool name.
  • Click EDIT, PART.
  • Click on the CHARTS TAB.
  • Double click the chart you would like to change. Be sure to change the equation chart, not the probe charts.
  • Make your changes to the tolerances or mix equation. Use the mix equation to add offsets to the reading.
  • Click SAVE.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
Readings: Remastering a Tool (Set Zero) Top
  • Click FILE, SELECT PART.
  • Change the group box to the tool name.
  • Click COLLECT, START (or use the stoplight).
  • Load a tool nominal master or set all transducers to nominal position.
  • Click COLLECT, REMASTER.
  • Press F8 to zero out all transducers.
  • Click COLLECT, STOP (or use the stoplight).
Adding a new tool to your existing Kurt database

  • Under the MANAGE menu, select DATABASE.
  • The Database Management tool will allow you to copy and delete items from your database.
  • Copy the source JOB to the destination database first. Everything under that job will copy except for parts.
  • Copy the source PARTS to the destination database.
  • Open the destination database. Select EDIT, JOB and add the appropriate part into the job resources. This may include user keys, instructions, etc.
  • For factory instructions to work, you must copy the instructions and the corresponding event/action from the database.
    • To assign resources to the job, go to EDIT, RESOURCES, ASSIGN menu and add the instructions to the available resources.
    • To add the event action to the job, go to EDIT, JOB menu and add the event action to the job desired.
  • If your new tool database includes an IMAGE file (shown on the data collection screen), you must copy that file into your KURT image file directory. You can configure this directory under MANAGE, SETTINGS menu .
Adding or Changing Instructions to a Gaging Operation Top
  • Click SYSTEM, USER DISPLAYS.
  • In the pull down box, select the instructions you would like to edit. If you are creating a new instruction set, click NEW.
  • For new instructions:
    • Key in a message name and description.
    • In the pull down box, select INSTRUCTIONS.
  • Click EDIT.
  • Key in the new instruction set in the box provided. Include any variables if you would like to use them.
  • Click SAVE.
  • Click OK.
For new instructions:

  • Be sure the screen setup for the appropriate group has INSTRUCTIONS checked.
  • Add the instructions to the system resources.
    • Click SYSTEM, ASSIGN RESOURCES.
    • Highlight the new instruction set and click ADD.
    • When prompted where to include the instructions, select BOTH and click OK.
  • Create an Event Action for your instructions.
    • Click EDIT, RESOURCES.
    • Click the EVENT ACTIONS icon.
    • Click NEW.
    • Key in a name and description for the new event action. Use a unique name for this operation.
    • Click the "..." icon next to the EVENT TRIGGER.
    • Highlight GROUP SELECT and click OK.
    • In the DATA RANGE box, click SELECTED.
    • Change the radio button to VALUE.
    • Highlight the gaging group (not probes) for the desired tool and click OK.
    • Click the DISPLAY icon (eye) from the actions column on the right.
    • Under DISPLAY TYPES, highlight DISPLAY POPUP MESSAGES.
    • Under MESSAGE OPTIONS, highlight DISPLAY INSTRUCTION.
    • In the pull down box, highlight your instruction set for this operation.
    • Click SAVE.
    • Click OK.
